Institutions offering MAID

Medical assistance in dying (MAID) is administered both in healthcare facilities and in the patient’s home. The choice comes down to the patient.

Healthcare facilities

In all Quebec hospitals.
In all Quebec palliative care homes (as of December 7, 2023). It should be noted that in the majority of these palliative care homes, a person requiring MAID must first be admitted to receive palliative care. They can then apply for MAID if they so wish, and if they meet all the legal criteria. At home or in another suitable location

The request for MAID, provided by a physician at home or in another suitable location of your choice, must follow the usual procedure. It is at the time of the assessment by the physician who will provide the care that the person concerned will express his or her wishes.
