As of August 2021, more than half of palliative care homes in Quebec now provide MAID.
The AQDMD is actively lobbying for all palliative care facilities to provide MAID because they are heavily subsidized by the government of Quebec, which, in a way, makes them public institutions.
Note that in most of these facilities, the patient must first be admitted to receive palliative care. Subsequently, they can put in a request for MAID if they wish to do so and if they meet all legal criteria.
